Chandershila peak 4000 mtr above sea level is in Chopta valley of Uttarakhand .
It is the highest peak of the Chopta Valley. Chandershila - (Moon Rock) named after God Chandra (Moon), The God spent some time here in Penance. That’s how it got name Chandershila. The place is also connected to Pandav who came here in search of peace after Mhabharat. This also reflects in local culture of Uttarakhand . The Pandav Nirtya (Dance) is being performed in each village every year. The sun rise from this peak is an amazing experience. To get this experience one should be adventurous enough. For sun rise one has to cover 5 km trek through steep terrain. Till Tungnath Temple the route is quite maintained but 1 km trek to Chandershila is a natural trek and steep. It is too cold here any season, proper packed windcheater, Gloves are must.
Chandershila Peak has 360 degree view of the valley, Enjoy the view of The Himalayan ranges –Nanada Devi peak, Trishul, Banderpuch, The dense forest , Bugyals(Green Meadows) Kedarnath wild Life Sanctuary, Musk Deer Sanctuary and much more in wild life.
Just try a loud shout and in few second the same sound will come back to you from the deep valley. This is an amazing experience. And the experience of reaching here can only feel it can’t be explained.
