Panch Kedar

 “Om Namah Shivoy” – Chopta House Hotel and Chopta Valley is blessed to be located within the Panch Kedar. Panch mean five and Kedar is Lord Shiva.So five places are there in Kedarkhand where the five body parts of Lord Shiva are worshiped and these temple are built in 8th century , according to myth and the folklore Pandav- Five Brothers were advised to seek blessings of lord shiva after the battle of Mahabharat when Pandavs defeated there cousin brothers Kaouravas and it was called “Dharmyudh” , a battle fought for the right, peace and dignity where uncounted warriors were killed and most of them were from the same family, they were brothers and relatives. In search of salvation and freedom from sin, Pandava came to Himalaya to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva was unhappy because of the battle and killings. The Second brother of Pandava “Bhima” Recognized Lord Shiva in Kedarnath when Lord Shiva turned into Bull Bhima went to him for blessings but the Bull took a hide underground and Bhima Hold the Bull from Behind and in this way the back part of the Bull is worshiped in Kedarnath and the Head part came out from the earth surface in Nepal and the temple in Nepal is named “Pashupatinath” .When Bhima was Holding Lord Shiva there was a announcement from the sky that to get out of sin, establish five body parts of Lord Shiva in the Himalayas in different parts of Kedarkhand and worship there you will attain the desired freedom. And Then the Panch Kedar came into existence where the First Kedar is – Kedarnath – Worship- Back part of Bull (Lord Kedarnath ji) 2nd is Madhmaheshwar- As Lord Shiva has many names and called Maheshwar- where the Madhya means mid part of Body is worshiped, 3rd is Tungnath – Tung- Mean Highest- Tungnath Temple is in Chopta Valley and is known as the highest Shiva Shrine in the world and visible from Chopta House Hotel here the Heart and Shoulders of Lord Shiva is worshiped. 4th is Rudranath –Where the face (Mukh) of Lord Shiva is worshiped. And 5th is Kalpeshwar  Mahadev- kalp means – Jata – Hairs of Lord Shiva is being worshiped here . It has great importance to Hindu religion to worship God and Goddess.
